Originally designed only for girls as written on the front of the building, the Jules FERRY school is today part of the François Mitterrand school group which brings together nursery and elementary schools. Previously, different schools were present on the municipal territory, for example, rue Gabriel Péri. This school group made it possible to bring together all the schools on the same site. Until the 1960s, many children from Polish and Italian industrial immigration mixed with young Varangéville residents in this school. This tradition of welcome still continues.
Today, this group is also made up of an “early childhood” multi-reception, an after-school service, a games library and a school restaurant. The town of Varangéville, having always been aware of the great wealth that its youth offers it, fuels an ambitious policy focused on childhood, school and the family.
